President Uhuru leads a contingent of Kenyan leaders in paying their last respects to the Late President Mwai Kibaki. By Bonnylad.
The Late President Kibaki will go down in history books as a valiant and gallant soldier that championed for all and sundry's rights in his tenure as in Public Service and the President of Republic of Kenya.
The late President has been eulogised by leaders across the globe as a statesman that uphold integrity in matters of leadership.
His body left Lee Funeral Home to Parliament apartments for public viewing, and the interrement processions will be conducted at his Othaya home.
Foreign leaders will pay their condolences to the late President Mwai Kibaki at his State funeral in the Nyayo National Stadium on Friday, led by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and his South Sudan colleague Salva Kiir.
Other dignitaries expected include Ethiopian President Sahle-Work Zewde and former Malawi President Joyce Banda, according to a list published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Rwandan Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente, Zimbabwean Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga, Tanzanian Vice-President Philip Mpango, Ugandan Vice-President Jessica Alupo, Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland, and Sri Lankan Special Envoy Jayathma Wickramanayake are among the others on the list.
Leaders globally are expected to grace interrement ceremony of the Late President Kibaki at his Othaya home.
In a sympathy statement, President Ramaphosa said Kibaki championed the cause of democracy and unity in Kenya and beyond.
President Salva Kiir praised Kibaki as a daring statesman who gained the admiration of his peers for his work on regional stability, declaring three days of national mourning and flying flags at half-mast across South Sudan in his honor.
"Throughout his political career, President Kibaki maintained a principled attitude in his pursuit of dignified and realistic politics. "His pragmatic style to politics kept the torch of accountability on Kenyan institutions while he was in opposition," President Kiir stated.
