The Moral Fabric of our Nation in ICU.

          A lady skimpily dressed

For a nation to be certified and highly rated to have cut the mustard in passing morality test, it has to be institutionalised along a stable fabric of systems aiding it.

These systems,  a country vest its trust in to champion, marshall and advance for this morality must fan the flames of hope in a nation by establishing a raft of measures to make sure no one infringes on them.

The recent incidences in our nation and other perennial vices continues to taint, dent, dim and frustrate efforts and good values our fore fathers fought for.

 In this regard, stringent measures ought to be crafted to cushion, curb, mitigate and suppress the moral decadence that has marred our nation, taking us back to the slavery-laddenned pre colonial era.

Listed below are vices that have intensely driven our morality to the deathbed:

     a) Arsonry attacks in Schools.

     An arson incident in one of the schools

After the Covid-19 struck, parents waited with bated breath on when their children will resume school. Teachers too, waited anxiously to receive and impart knowledge to the learners only to be struck with rude shock. Learners' discipline had deteriorated. They barely took in instructions.

Consequently, a wave of inferno ensued. It's indeed heart wrenching to witness centres of knowledge acquisition being razed down in flames by clueless students.

Instead of airing their grievances honourably to affiliated institutions, reasoning became archaic and alien concept to them. This is a clear indicator of how our moral has been thrown to the dogs in recent time.

    b). Media.

The primary role of the media is to inform, educate and entertain. The diction of the language used in dissemination of information has to be top notch.

The visuals too have to be censored in the event of graphic or gory images being televised.

This is never the case though, lately.

Most of our radio broadcasters are humorous spewing fun anecdotes full of sexual innuendo. The songs and decibels played bear lyrics largely composed of vulgar, mundane and profane language that the modern youth prefer.

The video vixens  clad in skimpy outfits exposing most of their bodies for the viewers to ogle and drool at.

All these put into one gravitate around a society whose morality is on the knees and if not swiftly acted upon, the trajectory  of our nation in matters Morality will be the biggest puzzle to unravel..

       c) Early pregnancies.

A school going girl impregnated by sexual a  predator.

I bumped into a friend at a wetting joint. We indulged into a tete a tete and the convo resonated along early pregnancy cases that had ballooned as of recent.

We dissected deeply into this early pregnancy conundrum and my friend had the following reservations;

Poverty was a major catalyst. The young girls are coerced and lured into 'gland to gland combat games' with a hoard of pleasantries presented to them by cold and callous men.

Peer pressure, exposure to sexual predators and adult contents was sighted too as predisposing factors to early pregnancies.

Additional factors that continue to degrade our morality include;

● Chaotic marred elections championed by opposing sides due to lack of trust in bodies governing elections. Leaders sometimes exchange barbs and slurs in public which doesnt echo well with the young generation that looks unto them.

● Famicides, genocides, homicides and abductions have continually dented the moral fabric of our nation.

● The police involvement in macabre killings of the citizenry they ought to safeguard is the biggest irony this nation grapples with. It indicates how far as a country we are from being morally stable.

Police being involved in macabre killings or maiming of residents they're obligated to guard is the harrowing incidence that needs immediate address.

These retrogressive acts are quite alien and as a nation, we should be swift to transform and transit from these heinous acts.

It calls for a collective responsibility of all and sundry to convene round table sessions and gather a convergent solution to these divergent vices we experience daily.

All is not lost, we can still be able to recollect some of the spilt milk than crying over it.
