Under the glaring floodlights, electrified and charged up fan bases of the two footballing giants in Arsenal and Sevilla ; Emirates Stadium played host to one of the breath taking game on Wednesday Night.
Arsenal; under their embattled gaffer the Spanish tactician-Mikel Arteta; who could face a ban from the Football Association pending the scathing attacks he aimed at Officiating team in their last encounter with the Magpies; was brimming with confidence that his troops will emerge victors in their encounter with Sevilla.
Arsenal needed to play their cards close to their chest after back to back losses at the hands of Hammers in the Carabao cup exit and the Premier League loss to Newcastle.
Sevilla on the hand; under the the tutelage of former Inter Miami CF Manager-Diego Alonso; who was appointed the head coach following the exit of Jose Luis Mendilibar after a run of poor results; was at the Emirates to revitalise and reinvigorate hope in the Sevilla squad.
Prior to the encounter with Arsenal; Sevilla had only managed a draw when they faced of with Cadiz and Celta Vigo in their La Liga Santander being at the 12th position in the table.
Who Did the Odds Favour to Win here?
Going into this game; Arsenal's squad was laced with injuries that locked their key players out. Captain Martin Odegaard,; Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah were all sidelined nursing injuries of different magnitude.
Despite the injuries; Arteta opted to go all out with his favourite 4-3-3 formation where Trossard was employed as a false mine partnering with Gabriel Martinelli and Saka in ripping the opposition defence into Shreds.
The midfield trio of Declan, Harvetz and Jorginho coordinated well to deny Sevilla spaces to create and punish our defenders; who rose to occasion to protect Raya in the goal.
From the outset; I wish to laud the composure of our players especially the Contributions that led to Trossard's clinical finishing from Saka's pass.
Generally;
Arsenal look set in qualifying to the next round as we are comfortable at the summit of our group table with 9 points; a four point gap over RC Lens.
Sevilla will be looking to find their right foot once again when they face off with the towering Real Betis in their La Liga this Sunday.
Will Arsenal lift the UEFA Champions League Title going by their form this season?
