Just In: President Ruto Nominates Two Azimio Legislators Who Have Given Him Sleepless Nights for Government Awards.
Parliament is seeking public input on nominated members set to receive Presidential awards. Kenyans are encouraged to share their opinions with the Parliamentary Honours Advisory Committee by November 14.
Among those nominated for awards, to be presented by President William Ruto on Jamhuri Day, are The Majority Leader in Parliament , Hon Kimani Ichung'wah who couples as Kikuyu MP; Hon Opiyo Wandayi-The Minority Leader in Parliament and also a Legislator for Unguja Constituency.
The two vocal leaders who are at the centre of the on-going Bi-Partisan talks representing their allies together with Nairobi Senator Hon Edwin Sifuna are poised to be honoured by President if their names sails through.
Other notable names include; Justice Madzayo, and Senator Aaron Cheruiyot to be among those chosen for the Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart.
Nakuru Senator Tabitha 'Keroche' Karanja and former United Democratic Alliance chairman Johnson Muthama will receive the Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart award.
Additionally, 37 MPs were nominated for the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear, including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
Seven directors were also nominated for the Order of the Grand Warrior Award.
The National Honors and Awards Committee advises the President on nominees, considering recommendations from various entities. Handwritten submissions are not accepted; views or objections should be emailed by November 14 at 5:00 p.m.
The awards span different categories, with distinctions like Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart, Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart, Order of the Burning Spear, and Order of the Grand Warrior.
