Just in: Youthful Leadership in the Corridors of Power.

Authored by: Bonnylad Ke
A while ago; Leadership was a preserve for personalities who were aged-men and women whose faces splodged with a maze of wrinkles as everyone was accustomed to 'Old is gold' rendition.

The aged personalities were believed to own the leadership blue print and were in possession of the requisite intelligence to handle a variety of issues either in stemming looming feud orotherwise create bloom from a gloomy situation.

They were affluent, so popular that opposition to them will be synonymous to a fly that tries to move a dung hill.
But lately; it seems that all this has been watered down, thanks to a new crop of young leaders out to claim their niche in leadership. The leadership goal posts are shifting; they're  experiencing a revolution; a seismic turn over where Youthful  faces exuding energy and brimming with confidence  continue to influx both the Public and Private sectors as competition for jobs takes centre stage.

Amidst this paradigm shift in leadership; Kenya has witnessed  a crop of youthful leaders in the political arena who flogged seasoned counterparts at the polls.
These young leaders espouse a beacon of hope, epitome of a new founded leadership and a reflection of transformative leadership poised to transit Kenyan politics to a different level. And this; is a yardstick that displays how democratic tenets of our Constitution has given latitude to all eligible candidates despite the age differences can square it out at the polls.

The writer has highlighted some of this leaders, touted as geniuses; their  inspirational stories christened as a belle that will make your senses purring like  a fancy brand new  Cellica car engine.

Let us check them out;

1. Hon Peter Salasya.
The ever bubbly, exuberant and ebullient  Mumias East Legislator's  ascension into the leadership ladder  was nothing short of a roller coaster ride.
Having locked horns  with seasoned politicians in the 2017 polls where the then incumbent legislator Hon Benjamin Washiali emerged the winner; Hon Salasya embarked on a spirited door to door campaigns in a bid to expand his support base.
His popularity had plummeted enroute to last years general polls and this worked to his advantage as he trounced most of his closest competitors by a short margin to clinch the win on a DAP-K ticket.
If the Infotrak research findings are anything to go by; where Hon Peter Kalerwa Salasya was ranked amongst best performing Youthful Leaders in kenya; then Mumias East residents have all the reasons to smile.
Time will vindicate him through his service delivery to the electorates of Mumias East Constituency.

2. Hon John Paul Mwirigi.
Hon Mwirigi sprung to limelight in 2017 amidst stories that hit  headlines resonating on the modus operandi of how he pulled out his campaigns.
Working on a shoe string budget; with limited branding materials- the Youthful Hon John Paul Mwirigi defied all odds as he cycled his way to victory.
Hon Mwirigi put in a spirited fight that saw him floor Hon Rufus Mriti of the then  ruling Jubilee Party to  clinch victory and represent people of Igembe South at just 23years.
His popularity  in the Constituency has witnessed a seismic rise as he was re-elected in 2022 general elections for his second term.
Continue serving the Igembe south residents with diligence and high plane of discipline.

3. Hon Linet Toto.
A youthful leader with Impeccable antecedents; Hon Toto's story to assumption of the office of Woman Representative of Bomet County is somewhat stupefying.
Having taken a stab at the  elective seat at that tender age; it was touted to be a turbulent sea to sail in. But once her boat left the shore; it was always on a forwad trajectory despite the impedance and ripples that were set her way. The Women Women Representative post was teeming with seasoned political leaders who she easily send into obscurity at the Party primaries.
Hon Toto ascended the leadership ladder on a UDA ticket after she trampled on the incumbent Nominated Senator-Hon Alice Milgo of CCM Party who was touted as the thorn in the flesh to Hon Toto's win.
We hope that the Youthful energy in her will be channelled to positively transforming the status quo of Bomet residents and Ke
nya as a Nation.
Hon Reuben Kiborok is a true revelation of the adage; "From grass to grace."
A former herdsboy whose biography reads, "They tried to bury us, but they didn't know we were seeds", is a youthful leader that has been through an array of energy sapping challenges; a leader that has lately witnessed vitriol remarks aimed at him so to deviate him from main leadership course. But he has stood steadfast; unfettered and without flinching.

Hon Reuben won the 2022 polls after falling head over heels  in the reverse 2017 elections.
Contesting on the UDA Ticket in 2022; he was elected to represent electorates of Mogotio constituency in Baringo County.
He is a leader that is never afraid of little opposition as he believes ; the kite of success generally rises  against the wind of adversity.
We wish Hon Reuben a wale of time as he executed his agenda to people of Mogotio Constituency and Kenya at Large.

Other leaders featured here include;
Hon Ndidi Nyoro~Kiharu Legislator
Hon Paul Ongilii~Embakasi East.

The List of Youthful leaders is long; it could stretch from Mufisi; in Mumias East to Mong'etho Sisal in Juja. Leaders not featured here will be in our next edition.
