The Rot in the Orange Party; Residents bemoan sham ODM Party Primaries in Mumias East and Nyalenda A.

There is pain in the Orange Party. Aspirants and electorates alike have decried foul plays in award of party tickets in the primaries.

Fingers have been pointed at party mandarins for not upholding democracy, an antic they believed might suppress the party from attaining over 90% representation in the August House.

Kisumu residents protested and  threatened to vote for  DP  Ruto after nominations showdown.

Angry residents in Nyalenda staged a peaceful demonstration  to protest  the flawed democracy that has marred party primaries in ODM  where the top brass leadership convened boardroom meetings meant to install leaders they deemed  fit to the people.

The riots in Nyalenda A  occurred at the backdrop of  withdrawal of ODM nomination certificate awarded to Ratib Boitone, an ODM MCA  Aspirant the people vested their trust in to lead and initiate development in their ward.

In a sequel of events thereafter, in the spirit of protest to the Party honchos led by Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Presidential flag bearer Hon Odinga, who couples up as the ODM  Party leader,  electorates threatened  to vote for Deputy President William Ruto allied candidates  in Kenya Kwanza Coalition  should ODM decline to  uphold Mr Boitone's victory.

Boitone, 47, triumphed in the Nyalenda ‘A’  ward seat but his victory was nullified by the ODM elections Board.

The protestors have spent the better part of Tuesday morning lighting bonfires and blocking roads, inviting running battles with the Police with tear gas canisters renting up the air.

One protestor was  even  seen holding DP Ruto’s placard.

It never ended there.

My little bird whispers that residents of Mumias East constituency are pondering voting enormously for a Kenya Kwanza candidate after they were left with an egg on their faces.

This is after their preferred candidate, Hon Kassim Were, a leader that had hit the ground running, popularizing the party and getting more members to board the ODM ship was shortchanged after failed nominations polls.

The citizenry decried  the Opinion poll module used to select the leader to fly the ODM ticket in the constituency as a defunct  and archaic method only relevant in the days of black and white TV.

According to a number of electorates  News Cafe interacted with, they openly castigated the ODM Deputy Party leader, Hon Wycliffe Oparanya  and acting ODM Chairman  Kakamega County,  Mr Mandela Moffat for playing cat and mouse games in serious political issues where their democratic right to cast votes to leadership of their choice was barred.

Terming the whole nominations voodoo  as  non democratic, the ODM delegates rallying their support hugely behind Hon Kassim, opined that Clanism Politics which played centre stage in awarding the ticket will lead  to mass exit and fall outs  from the Orange Party that will deliberately lead to natural death of the outfit in the Constituency.

These  moans and mews in ODM experienced nationwide depict a party that does not heed the voice of the people.

Most aspirants decry bribery where the brown envelope has been centric in the award of tickets.

Popular candidates within ODM fraternity with little financial muscles have seen their political careers fade in obscurity as the highest bidders with huge cheques were given direct tickets without being treated to nominations.

The fate of ODM hangs in the balance. They either shape up and follow the will of the people, or ship out in the near future, becoming a political moribund outfit.
